Diptych

Nopparat is hungry in the first picture and eating in the second picture.

A girl (Nora) is being made fun of because of the way she is dressed and is acting. The second picture shows how the same girl transformed into a beautiful girl and all the guys that were making fun of her now want her as their girlfriend.

Nopparat is bored and is tired from reading in the textbook. He starts to procrastinate and then finally....drops dead on his book.

I like how the photos came out at the end of this assignment. However one thing that I could've done better was taking more vertical pictures versus horizontal pictures.

Object Series

For my object series, I used different pairs of glasses to show the series of that object. I used Noop as my model because he was able to give the expressions that I wanted to capture for this assignment. I like how i was able to make every picture the same size and put them in a sequence order. I wanted to use more pairs of glasses but I didn't have many of them. I also could've taken more picutres for this series. Overall, I think that this object series was successful.

Photo Journaling

My theme was pretty simple and all about the season of spring.I was fascinated of all the flowers that I came in contact with and it made me feel as if I had to capture the beautiness of this great season. Spring is all about the rain as well, so I took picutres of plants outside in the rain.

Surreal Photo Montage

I chose the idea of "watering the waterfalls" for my surreal photo montage because I wanted to do something interesting where the person who is being the center of attention is doing something that no one would really think of. What i wanted to do was make my sister look bigger that way she looks superior. I like how i added shadow into the picture that's at the bottom. The caption in the photo is for people to understand this surreal photo better.

Surrealist Theme

For my surreal photomontage, I thought of an idea where a person (which I will photograph) will be running up on a waterfall, trying to get to the top of it. The background will be something dealing with the sky and creative landscapes surrounding the body of water.

Another idea for my surreal photomontage is having a person standing in front of a mirror that is cracked from the middle. The two sides of the mirror will reveal two different personalities. For example, one side of the mirror can portay a calm and joyful personality and the other side can show a dark and evil personality. This can show how people usually have different moods towards things and how their personality can change for that particular situation. The background could be a sky, where one side is nice and blue with puffy clouds and the other side could be a dull and gray sky with smoky clouds (each of them portraying the two different personalities.

The other idea that I had in mind was that I was watering a waterfail. I could ne seen as a really big person where I was photographed from a lower angle and then i have a sprinkler in my hand and watering the waterfall

Surrealist Artists

Leonor Fini was born on August 30, 1907 in Buenos Aires. From an early age, Fini was well aware that she wanted to become an artist. She was considered to be a self-taught painter because she had no formal training in art.as a young girl, she was expelled from three different schools because all she would do is draw and paint. She reflected her own imaginary museum that marked her preferences. Leonor was fully convinced about her career after visiting Paris in 1930. She had also made her first trip to New York and participated in the “Fantastic Art, Dada and Surrealism” exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art. Fini is also interested in poetry and literature and illustrated more than 50 works. After WWII Fini’s work had expanded Fini’s death on January 18, 1996 has not been fully determined but she is looked upon as an amazing painter.
George Grie was born in 1962 and he is considered to be one of the first digital neo-surrealist artists. He had graduated from a special school of Fine and applied arts in 1979. He then graduated from the State University, where he also started to experiment with modern surrealism as well as photo realism techniques. Grie also became a professional Multimedia Graphic designer and joins the IBM. He is currently living at the age of 50 and still and still is able to portray magical and joyful themes in his artwork and photographs.
Artist’s Name: Leonor Fini
Title Stanislao and Leonor
Date : 1942
Description: The painting shows a women that is sitting on her knees and her hair flows out to the man that is standing  behind her. Her hair is in the transformation of leaves and the  man is holding on to her.
Analysis: This painting has very dark colors in it to represent the actual meaning of the piece. The painting shows that the two people are outside at night. The background is the as busy and it’s to the point. The clouds reveal dull colors to show a cloudy night-time.
Interpretation: I think that this painting is trying to reveal how a woman always needs a support in her life, whether it’s a husband or just a friend. The woman is showing that she is in despair and the man behind her is supporting her. When someone looks at his painting, one is always questioning themselves of why the woman is positioned the way she is and why is her hair transformed in the leaves. There’s always a meaning behind a piece of artwork and this painting reveals how you always have someone beside you.
Judgement: I think that Fini did a great job completing this painting because she was successful in showing the true colors behind someone’s personality and using different shades, colors and textures to portray the true meaning of her artwork. I like how she used leaves to represent the woman’s hair and the bright colors she had used to show the man supporting her.

Artist’s Name: George Grie
Title: The Monster in Your Dreams
Date: 2003
Description: The boy is flying away in the air where he finallt finds his way out as soon as the light bulb flashes. The door had another passageway for the boy to pass through.
Analysis: The first thing that caught my attention was how the boy was flying in the air and sees another door to get in to. The background is not as busy and shows more like a morning sky. The clouds fade away in the left of the photo and them reveals its true colors as your eye moves through. The boy’s back shows a high key since the light bulbs flashes, showing brightness.
Interpretation: This photo reveals a little boy trying to go to another dream. Since the title of the artwork is called “Dreams of Flying Away” I can say that the boy is trying to be in another dream by using doors instead of dream clouds to get in. The light bulb symbolizes a new path and an answer to the boy’s question of where he should go next.
Judgement: I enjoy that this peace if very calm and not as crazy as other surreal arts are portrayed. As I look at the sky, I immediately pause when I see the light bulb. I think Grie was successful because he likes to put in magical themes to get his message to the people that are looking at his artwork. The composition is good as well since the colors repeat through the entire art piece.

When looking at both of these surrealist artists, one can tell right away that these are two different styles of art. However, both are similar in some ways. Both of these artworks show dull colors which portrays the true meaning behind the painting and photograph. Fini uses transformations of certain objects to send the message to others. You can tell that Grie uses Photoshop to edit his work while Fini uses different brushes to get even the tiniest things to reveal. I personally like George Grie’s surrealism mainly because he is a modern day surrealist artist. But, I also like the fact that he is very creative and I like how he uses different textures.

30 Day Challenge

For my 30 Day Challenge, I used a movie theater background to display all of my pictures that Itook. I believe that a big screen will attract people into looking what's showing.

David Hockney Inspired Collage

This is a portrait of my sister, Aisha for the David Hockney Collage. This was an interesting assignment where I had to build her face up again to become one. I could've fixed up the lighting in the background and I could've fixed the skin tone.

Merril Park Bridge- This was the hardest part of the David Hockney Collage because I had trouble with the trees in the background. I needed to fit them as they were in reality. I could've done a better job with this but I was able to make a full scene.

PARTNER PORTRAITURE

This is a picture is of me blowing away Goral. She is "too delicate" that she can be blown away from just one blow.  I thought this would be pretty interesting. She positioned herself as if she was about to floor to the ground as i "blew" her away.

Recreate Your Childhood

This is a picture of me when I was just 1 year old. Now 17 years later I'm like this...
I chose this picture because I did many foolish things when I was little, but I still act like that sometimes so this shows how I am.

Portrait Series

 Portrait Series: Aisha's Personality

My photographs are of my older sister, Aisha. I've decided to photograph her in particular because she's not only my sister, but also my best friend. I wanted to capture her personality and her natural appearance at the same time. In this series, I took pictures of my sister showing her inner feelings about things she sees, hears, and talks about. She is a very talkative person and I tried capturing her actions in the bottom left photograph, where she "tries" to act quiet and innocent. When she doesn't like hearing someone talk, she often covers her ears to ignore the person. That's just the way she is, which makes her special.
I wanted my portrait series to look natural. My sister has always been by my side and encourages me in my everyday life. I enjoyed doing the portrait series because it gave me the freedom to think of new ways to photograph people. In this case, I wanted to portray her crazy personality. I also like how the background is a little shadowy and not as bright. I wanted my sister to be the center of attention, which I have accomplished in this series of portraits.

Photowalk 1

I really like this picture because I like how I was able to capture her in an angle looking down. The way she looks up at the camera made the picture stand out also because the down angle makes her look smaller. I also like how you can see a part of the stairs, where this picture was taken.

Artist Inspirations

Steve McCurry is one of many famous photojournalists. Many people are aware of his incredible work including his image of Sharbat Gula who is an Afghan refugee girl. His work inspires me because he is able to capture the soul and essence of his objects.

Carol Guzy is an American photojournalist who is known for shooting feeling rather than just pictures. Her goal is to bring understanding between people in all parts of the world by capturing the darkest corners of human reality.

Erik Almas is a very creative photographer because he is inspired and encouraged by his own image making. His work is magnificent because he enjoys making his pictures stand out.

Many people are aware of the famous American documentary photographer, Dorothea Lange. She is best known for her photographs of the Great Depression. It was a great way to show the world what people were going through during this time period.

Pop art has always one of my favorite types of art.  I am inspired by Andy Warhol’s art work because I love the way he uses bright colors in his work as well as contrast. It really catches my attention.
